Can a sport "have no merit"?

Is this natural or make any sense native English Speakers?
Could I get a few answers if possible, I've heard it about 'ideas' but sports or 'film'?

Is merit the right word and can be used naturally like this or is it stilted?

This sport has no merit in my opinion. Anyone can play it professionally if they train.

This movie has no merit. It's already been made before.

Thank you

Hi enoon,

Is there another word that you would also use, or is that the way you would say it

Thanks
