Can a few natives give me their opinion

This is a repost, but would like more than one reply if possible as I believe this to be wrong a teacher say it is fine.

Please tell me this is incorrect because I heard an English person say that. How would you have written it? The father was talking to his son. This soccer player isn't your generation. That's why you don't know him son. Thanks

That sounds OK to me. Strictly speaking, some people might think "This soccer player isn't from/of your generation" more proper.

Are you English or American, maybe that's why some say from and of and others say nothing.
