Can a conjunction function to several sentences

MARK is the best man. Here "him" refes to the groom.
21. INT. RECEPTION HALL. NIGHT
Cut to the newlyweds dancing to "Bye Bye Baby". Sarah comes and sits next to Mark. She looks at him curiously then gently asks him.

SARAH: Do you love him?
MARK: What?
SARAH: No, I just thought I'd ask blunt question, in case it was the right one and you needed someone to talk to about it and no one had ever asked you. So you'd never been able to talk about it even though you might have wanted to....
MARK: No. No. No is the answer. Absolutely not.
SARAH: So, that's a "no"then.
MARK: Yes. Ahm... this DJ... what you reckon? The worst in history?
SARAH: Probably. I think it all hangs on the next song.

Cut to DJ.

DJ: Now here's one for the lovers. That's quite a few of you, I shouldn't be surprised and a half.

A deeply questionable song starts to play. The DJ is utterly absorbed in the moment.

MARK: He's done it. It's official.
SARAH: Worst DJ in the world.
[From the movie Love Actually]
I think "in case" functions the "so" clause in blue.
If so, I'd like to know why "in case" functions another sentence as well as its sentence.

park sang joonBut I'd much like to know why the scriptwriter used the period, not the comma.
If it is the script, the writer wanted a longer pause there.
If it is a transcript, the actor paused longer there.
