Can a brunette have black hair?

Idiomatically I think there's usually a distinction made between "brunette" and "black-haired".
But as for "brun" meaning "dark": the person you've quoted seems to be

Not so sure about that. Maybe in Africa, but red or at least reddish/blondish hair is far from uncommon amongst Afro
