Camping out for movies

Question

Have you camped out overnight in line for a movie?

It occurred to me too late that it might have been fun to spend last Friday or Saturday night in line with the Sith people. I love crowds and weird communal events.
Unfortunately, I probably couldn't do it now that I'm married. The Significant Other would frown on my sleeping on the sidewalk with strangers. Go figure.
So anyway, what's your story about life on the line?

My cousin made me camp out infront the Miami Arena to get tickets for the very first Florida Panthers NHL game. I told him, " There are a thousand tickets being released. There are 900 Tickmaster outlets opening. Being in line at the Arena is worse than being at the music store at 10am because its done on a central database, each "ticket window" computer will be able to process one ticket or more, and then it will be sold out"
He didnt care. So we headed to the Miami Arena at about 2am. There were already about six people there. One approached us with a list to sign in, securing the order. People kept showing up, 20, 50, 100, more. by the time the sun came up there were about 150 of us out there lined up and on the list in order.
At about 9:30am a Black kid with all gold teeth pulls up on a bike and yells "Where is y'alls List!?" The list ****, produced the list and the kid signed his name, took his shirt off and ate bag of Doritos.

I turned to my cousin and said, "hes getting tickets" My cousin said, "huh? why do you say that?" I said, "he didnt come down here for nothing, hes eating his breakfast now, hes getting tickets, watch"

At 9:45am a Miami Arena official comes out an announces "THERE WILL BE A LOTTERY, but we will honor your LIST for the order of picking numbers out of a hat." On the list I was like #7, I drew like #63, my cousin was on the list at #8 and he drew #14. He was still optimistic! We looked to the front of the line, and at the window, was the Black kid, with the Gold teeth and no shirt. The window opened, he bought 4 tickets, and the window closed. SOLD OUT.
Needless to say, we bought the tickets from him for like 10x face value, but looking back on it, it was a good deal. We always get a good laugh remembering the night we waited in line at the Miami Arena for tickets.

I don't have enough money to wait in line at the theater. I don't even have enough money to rent recent flicks. Last night I spent 10 minutes in Blockbuster checking to see whether any of the four titles I want have been taken off the new release racks. None of them had, so I rented two '80's pics on the 2-for-1 deal. I don't even go to Blockbuster Thursday-Sunday, since I can't get the 2-for-1 deal on those days. That's me, Dawg. If a movie costs more than $1.99 to watch, I'm out.

Not my story, but there was an item I heard on the radio back in May about two major-league Staw Wars fans who camped out for several weeks outside the cinema to be the first to get into Revenge of the Sith. The kind of thing that had happened with all the other Star Wars sequels and prequels, and probably Trek and other movies as well. Except there was a small problem.

Revenge of the Sith wasn't going to be showing there.

And no matter how many times they were told that Revenge of the Sith wasn't going to be showing there, and they were camping ouside the wrong cinema, they wouldn't go away because they'd lose their position; they thought it was a scam to get rid of them so someone else could take their place and be first.
History doesn't relate whether they did ultimately move on, or stayed put and got the first tickets to *** 2: The Next Level instead.
