Cambridge Test of Legal English

It is a great exam but for those who look for something like that there is the T O L E S foundation examination and T O L E S advanced examination.

I just wonder who actually produces the TOLES exams and, for that matter, whether any associations or organisations, etc. recognise them??

I'm not sure, but it seems TOLES are an alternative to the Cambridge exam. From a quick Google search, it seems that quite a few big names have worked with them. There's a link on their website:

The organisations listed have not "worked" with TOLES. Someone from these organisations took a TOLES exam at some point. It could have been a trainee, a paralegal, secretary, or translator. Also, from my experience TOLES is an inferior test to Cambridge ILEC as TOLES tends to be a test of legal knowledge rather than a test of language. It is a shame that the ILEC exam has been discontinued. I agree that TOLES is inferior to it. I work for http://www.legalenglish.co.uk and we are trying to organise an examination of legal English that matches ILEC for its ability to test the language. If anybody has any hints or tips, please let me know.
