Cambridge 13 Test 1 Task 2?

Living in a country where you have to speak a foreign language can cause serious social problems, as well as practical problems.

To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

===

There is no doubt that living abroad is ubiquitous in the light of globalization. However, a school of thought holds that staying overseas can have a negative bearing on our lives, triggers some adverse effects like practical troubles. In this essay, I will rationalize this trend before coming to conclusion whether I agree with this statement or not.

On the one hand, individuals moving to another country are likely to face up with alienation. This can be attributed to discrimination and bullying. African perfectly exemplifies this situation. They are often browbeaten because of their identities and appearances, which makes them reluctant to communicate and become more reserved. Moreover, a host of people staying in foreign nation have to be burdened with culture shock. Getting accustomed to this reaction for a long time would excacerbate their feelings and they tend to get depression, especially commiting to suicide. Therefore, adverse effects of practice is a perennial problem that most abroad individuals have to deal with.

On the other hand, living in another country is not without negative experience. We can grasp a treasure trove of knowledge which we may find it hard to obtain in our domestic nations. The more people attach to their living countries and brave problems, the more skills they hone. From scratch, abroad immigrants often suffer from culture shock, yet it would be gradually replaced by multi-cultural understanding. Probably perhaps, strong multi-cultural background helps abroad people bridge the gap between them and bullies, relieve their pains of down-to-earth difficulties.

In conclusion, regardless of social problems with overseas people when they live in foreign countries, it is still a good way for them to experience and earn a wealth of interesting things.
