Some people believe that it is good to share as much information as possible in scientific research, business and the academic world. Others believe that some information is too important or too valuable to be shared freely.

Discuss both views and give your opinion.

In this day and age, it is considered that information in some academic fields such as science or business should be shared out, while others suggest restricting the sharing without fee due to the significance of information. As far as I am concerned, each has its own upsides but I lean towards the latter view.

On the one hand, sharing information in scientific research or other fileds provides opportunities for everyone to acquire fundamental knowledge which they can apply to their work or study. In addition, when you share, you also have the chance to receive feedback from other experts, thus you can reflect your own work and make a progress in the future. Moreover, some materials are prohibitively expensive that someone, specificially students, can not afford to own. Therefore, this may limit their access to knowledge acquisition. .

On the other hand, it often takes years for researchers or experts to collect enough knowledge served for the publishing of their work. As a result, it is worth paying a certain amount of money to keep up with novel findings in a specific field. This is a good way to show your respect for the authors’ efforts and contributions, as well as support them to carry out more research or products in the future. To me, if a piece of information is radically valuable, authors should charge some fees to reward themselves adequately. For instance, Coursea is a well-known website that provides free courses opened for all learners. If you want to study free, you can take it but if you want to have some more highly academic knowledge, you may have to pay an extra charge.

To sum up, knowledge is to be shared to a certain extent that ensures the authors’ efforts are rewarding and respected.
