Cam 12 test 5 - ielts writing task 2

Task 2:

Some people believe that it is good to share as much information as possible in scientific research, business and the academic world. Others believe that some information is too important or too valuable to be shared freely.

Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

In this modern world, with the development of technology, the need for precise data has been becoming indispensable. Information, in general, is shared rapidly and uncontrollably, despite the governments’ huge efforts to restrain. While I tend towards the viewpoint that it is better for people to share the data openly in terms of scientific researches, businesses and academic articles, I would have to support the high prevention for the security of enormously important expertises.

On the one hand, it is true/undoubted/undisputed/obvious that people need information as useful knowledge to enrich their understanding about the world around them and therefore enhance their lives quality through updating news including science, economy, academia, and so on. To be more specific, there are thousands of ways to gain up-to-date background such as digital course books, videos on platforms and posted articles in many groups on social media. Furthermore, people after learning about some aspects of their life can immediately apply it in practice to tackle unsolved problems. For instance, people whose forte is not economy probably can learn to become semi-professional investors and make money through online courses available on the internet.

On the other hand, sharing too much information without censoring can lead to serious threats to not only the citizens but also the authorities of those countries. Data about crucial parts of a nation such as politics, military and even medical needs to be protected comprehensively so that the opponents cannot take advantage of those in order to terrorise or manipulate the residents. In fact, the Vietnamese government will probably keep secrets about the number of deaths in battlegrounds in order to alleviate the fear of war for their warriors as well as generate bravery before the next fight. Personally, I agree with the decision of keeping the goverments’ prohibitively private information, which might be a useful tactic in citizens management and diplomatic control.

In conclusion, it seems to me that making information accessible plays a significant role in the general development of society and keeping some of that private is a feasible strategy for the government to supervise their nation.

You wrote over 350 words. The minimum is 250. You will not lose points for writing more; however, longer essays generally do not get high band scores. And there are many reasons for this.

First, the longer the essay, the more chances you have to make errors, and you will lose points for each of those errors.

Second, your writing may be repetitious and wordy. This will cost you poin
