Probably well-positioned. Physically, we say someone who has "good posture" is well-poised, or "has poise." You could say that the rattlesnake was poised to strike. It could apply to the favorable position of a military unit, or a company which is well-positioned financially and legally to take over another company - perhaps a "hostile takeover."
