Calling someone by name

Hiya!

Call me by my name! Does this mean that when you talk to me, name me as my name is, and no other then that?
Is it something that for example a boss could tell an employee who keeps calling him boss, or if someone keeps calling me dude and I got upset of it, I can shout into his face?

" Sometimes people may call a teacher "sir" if this bothers the teacher they will say, "call me Mr. Rogers" or whatever they prefer. Shouting into someones face is very rude, so if you dont want to be rude, I would advise against this.

It is more polite to say, "call me..." Sometimes people may call a teacher "sir" if this bothers the teacher they will say, "call me Mr. Rogers" or whatever they prefer. Shouting into someones face is very rude, so if you dont want to be rude, I would advise against this.

But "call me my name" is not correct, right?

you're welcome:)

grammaticaly, to say "call me my name" is correct, but it is more natural to say "call me by my name"

it makes a big difference just by adding in that small word.
