Called what?

What is a guy called who is more like a brother to me but is not at all related to me. WOuld he be called my cousin?
When i say 'not related' i mean he doesn't belong to my immediate nor extended family.
There's a word for it, but i forget. Emotion: crying

The proper meaning of cousin is a child of your parent's brother or sister. Both "brother" and "cousin" can be used figuratively for someone to whom you are emotionally close. I don't know the word you're trying to think of.

Hello Sonia,

I think that you are trying to remember the phrase "platonic friendship".

I if say that I have a platonic relationship with someone it means that
we are close friends but there is not any sort of physical relationship between us.

I hope this helps.
