1. present: I am just calling. (Speaker's viewpoint is that what he is doing at the moment of speaking is "calling".)
2. past or present perfect: I just called. I have just called. (Speaker's viewpoint is that what he is doing at the moment of speaking is not "calling", but "speaking on the phone". The "calling" occurred a moment earlier.)

Thanks Sir,

Here are 2 telephone messages:

1.Hi, Anne. This is Wanda. Just called to say hello. I’ll try to call you again soon. Bye.

2.Hi, Anne. This is Wanda. Just calling to say hello. I’ll try to call you again soon. Bye.

In these cases, could you tell me clearer about the difference in menaing btw just called to say hello and just calling to say hel

Well, as Jim said, someone might consider the act of dialing the phone to be calling. So by the time they are connected, they have already "called."

But others consider the conversation to be calling. So while they are connected, they are "calling."

Thanks CJ and GG.

I understand now.(1)

Hi GG, you wrote:

Why did you write: to be calling ?Please tell me the structure and the meaning here.

2/Is (1) correct?

1. The structure is; consider something/someone to be....

Shakespeare is considered to be the greatest poet of all times.

2. Yep, correct, you can also say 'I get it now' or 'I see'..

I consider A to be B.

The example above shows "Shakespeare" and "greatest poet of all times" for the A and B. You could also say something like "I consider Meg to be my best friend." "Meg" and "my best friend" are the A and B.

In my example "the act of dialing" and "calling" are A and B - because were were talking about how people define the word "calling."
