Call in your RX Refill by telephone

At the bottom of a Walgreens receipt:

CALL IN YOUR RX REFILL BY TELEPHONE OR VISIT WWW.WALGREENS.COM

Why is it "call in" and not just "call"?

What does RX stand for?

Thank you.

RX stands for prescription . You would call Walgreens (telephone them) to call in your prescription (tell them what you need before you go there, so they will have it ready when you get there and you won't have to wait).
