Call for

Hello...

- Did you need her phone number
- Oh, no, I was calling for you.
- Well, well, how may I help you?

**********

Here... I was calling for you....
If we say, “For you I was calling”, the meaning changes?

“I was calling for you.” sounds “I called to speak to you”, but “For you I was calling.” sounds “I was calling to someone to do something good for you.”.

Is this correct understanding?

Thee conversation is unnatural. The first speaker's words suggest that the caller has asked for a female. Why would they do that if they were calling (no 'for') the first speaker?

Thanks a lot, fivejedjon...
This was from a drama and I changed the name into "her".
And a man was calling an old woman and the old woman thought that the man was calling for the number of the younger woman.

I think I should have given more context before and after the quote I posted....
