Hello,

We need to do this for more precise calculation of our location.

We need to do this for A more precise calculation of our location.

We need to do this for THE more precise calculation of our location.

Which is correct?

p.s.

In SOMETHING OF, I notice that it is "knowledge of: without THE.
BUt "THE distribution of food."

Why is THE used in some "OF" and not in others?

Thanks.

All 3 sentences are correct and synonymous. Generally, the use or omission is connected with the speaker's unconscious perception of singularity or countability, and sometimes the use is idiomatic. Sometimes either will work, and sometimes not: it is not an easy question to answer.
