Cafe and cafeteria

Are they the same to certain extent?

Is cafe like a coffee shop? And cafeteria is like a self-service restaurant serving buffet meals? Can McDonalds be considered a cafeteria? Would you name a few places in the US which are cafe? Lyon's? Danny's? Please advise.
