CAE essay - Space Exploration Funding

Hi, I am preparing for the CAE and lately i wrote an essay, I would be really grateful If someone could check it and correct my mistakes!

You class has watched a documentary about the need for nations to fund space exploration. You have made the notes below:

Advantages of spending public money on space exploration: countries work together to further our understanding of the universe we may discover raw materials. possible new living space for the world's growing population. Some opinions expressed in the documentary: It's human nature to want to understand where we come from. We should stop exploiting natural resources. The world's growing population needs further space to live.

Write an essay discussing TWO of the advantages given for space exploration in your notes You should explain which reason is most important, giving reasons in support of your answer.

ESSAY

Space exploration has become a hotly-debated topic over the past decades. It leads to new possibilities and gives many opportunities for development. Although most people generally agree that it is vital for our society to fund the space exploration,opinions differ about the proper funding allocation.

It is common knowledge that human population is growing at a breakneck pace and soon there will be need for new living space for people. However, there are not enough resources to support the greedy society. Overpopulation is leading to degradation of environment, wildlife extinction, conflict and wars and so on. There is no other way than to find a new home for people. Happily, recent research suggests that there are might be some life-suitable planets and that is why society should fund space exploration.

On the other hand, space exploration opens a door for scientific institutions and organisations to gaining valuable knowledge which help us understand our universe. Researchers and scientists representing countries from all around the work can work together , sharing their experiences and discoveries, for example in order to understand where do we come from.

In conclusion, although there are many factors that shows us the need for space exploration funding, I think the most important thing about it is that it can help us find a second home which can become a necessity in the near future due to overpopulation.
