CAE essay

Hello everyone. It would help me a lot if somebody could correct and write his/her opinion regarding this essay. Task was taken from CAE writing paper part 1. Thanks to everyone in advance.

You have attended a Science Club lecture on how schools could encourage young people to train for careers in science. You have made the notes below.

Ways in which schools could encourage young people to train for careers in science
• enjoyable science lessons.
• careers advice.
• guest lectures from professional scientists. Some opinions expressed in the discussion:
'Kids should be able to design their own experiments.'
'A lot of the careers advice given is already out of date.'
'A lot of the scientists are too busy to spend time visiting schools.'

Write an essay for your tutor, discussing two of the methods in your notes. You should explain which method you think is more important for governments to consider, giving reasons to support your opinion.

You may, if you wish, make use of the opinions expressed during the discussion but you should use your own words as far as possible.

Write your essay in 220-260 words in an appropriate style.

Nowadays only a tiny fraction of young people are engaging in science. It seems like science has nothing to offer. This untruthful opinion in society has brought the research on the verge of slowing down due to a shortage in workforce. Humanity is therefore obliged to address this issue with promoting the natural sciences and what they can offer. In this essay I will try to outline, what can be done in schools to promote the career in science.

Firstly it would be advisable to start at a early age when pupils first come to a contact with these subject. Highly motivated and having high expectations, these children often find themselves disappointed as instead of conducting many experiments teaching them about how the world works, the more their study advances the more they are discouraged with the overwhelming amounts of theory. Although theory is a key part to success in the fields of science, I would recommend balancing the number of practical and theoretical lessons.

A quicker approach to this problem would be for schools to set up career advice service. What is most crucial is to ensure the students that they will find an enjoyment in their job. And that is something the career advice can help them with.

To conclude restructuring the education as well as establishing career advice are vital possibilities to solve this issue. In my opinion it is urgent to bring about a change in education. For reasons included above, I personally believe that highly experimental science lessons would be a more vital solution.
