Two police officers are talking about the cab driver:

Officer A: ****, what was he doing there?

Officer B: Well, he had to be staging, trying to steal his fare.

I have never heard this expression too...:-((

Hi,

A 'staging area' for cabs refers to a special area where cabs wait for customers. eg an airport has a cab staging area.

Another meaning that I have a vague recollection of is this. A cab goes from place A to place B. The driver then waits/looks for a customer to take back from Place B to place A, rather than driving the cab back empty. I'm not 100% sure of this usage. But it
