by systematically burning the forests

After 3 weeks of battle with wildfires, the fires are 90 percent contained. Firefighters are still continuing isolating them by systematically burning the forests.

Is the above natural?
Thanks.

After 3 weeks of battle with/battling the wildfires, they are now 90 percent contained. Firefighters are (continuing to isolate) (still isolating) them by systematically burning the forests.

I just remember GG once told me 'still continuing' doesn't work. Is that a problem here?
