By or from

Do you say:

This whey protein is by optimum nutrition (which is the company, brand name).
Or
This whey protein is from optimum nutrition (which is the company, brand name).

And when should by or from be used. They confuse me.

Thanks!

Ok thanks. So which should be used by or from. And when should each be used?

Thanks again.

This whey protein is by Optimum Nutrition.
Or
This whey protein is from Optimum Nutrition.

Please explain when should by or from be used.

Only 'from' seems possible there. Generally, products are not 'by'; it is more suitable for services.

Thanks. But what do you mean by 'services'. Would give an example!

I though I can use by because 'this material' is made by 'that company'.

You need 'made' in order to collocate it. You will see 'Product X...by ABC Company!' occasionally, but it is a slick marketing phrase (usually cosmetics), not a normal business phrasing.

Thanks. So just to clarify, if I included the word made, then I should use by. If I did not include made, then from should be used.

Sorry to bother you, I am just confused a bit.

Thanks!

Yes, that is the norm.
