BY or (BY) / DO or (DO)

Could you help me correct these few sentences please?

- What day do we have to return it (by)? (Could you leave in BY?)

- He knows how it works better than you (do).

- He looks good compared to you (do). (does this sentence make sense?)

- They arrived after we left.

What day do we have to return it? Or What day do we have to return it by?

- He knows how it works better than you. Or He knows how it works better than you do.

- He looks good compared to you .
- They arrived after we left.


I prefer the sentences without the by or do as they sound more natural to me. You can't use do
