by night

We have experienced heavy downpour of monsoon rain this morning and we are expecting more by night. The sky is enveloped in dark clouds.

Is "by night" all right here? Are there any other mistakes? Thanks

Hi Abil

You could also use the word 'shrouded' (instead of covered).
