Hello,

There are two fields having different areas- one is larger than another.

1. Which field has larger area and by how much?

I could not understand the meaning of "by how much".

Could any one explain it?

Field A is 300 acres in area. Field B is 400 acres in area.

By how much is B larger than A? By 100 acres. 400 - 300 = 100.

(The measurement of area may be in different units in your part of the world.)

I would like to know the meaning of "by how much"?

I am aware the we use "how much" to ask amount or degree of something. The use of the word "by" with "how much"
is creating doubts.

So I want to understand the usage of "by" with "how much".
