By candle light vs. by the candle light

John reading by candle light.
John reading by the candle light.

1. If I am to write a caption for a picture, which of the above should I say?
2. What is the difference in meaning between using 'the' and not using it above?
3. Should I say 'the' because I'm refering to the specific candle light in the picture? Or is not using 'the' for the caption fine?

4. Also, I understand I cannot say "by a candle light" because light is uncountable. Would you agree?

Please advise. Thank you.
