Buying/subscribing

I accidentally bought Amazon Prime.

I accidentally subscribed to Amazon Prime.


Which one is correct? Are both equivalent? I am asking since Amazon Prime is a service. I heard people use bought before, but I am wondering if it's correct usage.

Bought is generally a single transaction of an exchange for goods/services. Subscribed is a recurring payment for the use recurring use of a service or a recurring receipt of a product.


Side note. A person may have bought a car or house, but rarely pay the full cost in one transaction. A loan is generally secured, but those recurring loan payments wouldn't be considered a subscripti
