Buying things "from" a website

Hello,
I usually say and hear on Amazon, Ebay, etc. I sometimes come across "from" which doesn't strike me as odd, but what do you think of:
- I am interested in purchasing a new watch from Amazon, but I don't have enough money saved up.
Does it sound odd to you?

As far as Amazon is concerned, I would make a distinction between items actually sold by Amazon and items sold by third-parties through their website. In the latter case I would not personally say that I had bought an item from Amazon.

That's true, GPY. I needed a name, so I decided on Amazon. The same holds true for Ebay, Gumtree, etc.
Merry Christmas. However people often say: I bought (something) off Amazon, Ebay, etc). In informal contexts that is.

The use of "off" to mean "from" à la "I bought it off my friend" sounds uneducated (to me). I think it's possible, though, that there may be a slightly different "proper English" interpretation of "off" in the case of Amazon etc., where "off" suggests that it was listed on their w
