buy off

Is this natural? Do you buy off a wishlist?
I bought something off his wishlist and he sent me a card a thank you.

Thanks

It would not be uncommon to hear "off", but it is inferior to "from" in my opinion. "... he sent me a card a thank you" is not right (appears to be some kind of run-on).

what about 'he sent me a card as a thank you.'?

Can I ask you how a photographer would ask a question? I would like your thought?

Thanks
