Which is correct:

1-I buy a lot of books that I don't read, but I also buy a lot of books that I do read.
2-I buy a lot of books and don't read them. But I also buy a lot of other books and do read them.

I would say this.
I buy a lot of books, but I do not read them all.

Both sentences are correct.
Many prefer to use 'however' to start a sentence instead of 'but' esp. in formal writing in which case sentence 1 is more appropriate.
