Butterfly clasp

Dear forum teachers,

I have a question from Prison Break. What does “butterfly clasp” mean? I do not think I get this sentence in blue, “There's a butterfly clasp on that man”.? What is Tweener talking about?

Could you help me make this conversation clear?

Thanks for your help.

Michael- I need you to steal something back that was stolen from me.

Tweener- What kind of something we talking about?

Michael- Just a watch.

Tweener- Uh-uh, there ain't no such thing as "just a watch." Every design has a different clasp, every clasp has a different swipe.

Michael- It's Italian, a Remedi. Gold band, pearl face, all-weather.

Tweener- What year?

Michael- 2003

Tweener- There's a butterfly clasp on that man.

Michael- Which means what?

Tweener- Hidden deployment. There ain't no way to snatch it without the mark feeling it, which just means I'm going to have to get whimsical on this ficky. I get you this watch, that mean I get in on some of that P.I.?

Michael- It means I'll think about it, no promises.

Just from the context, I'd assume it means the release on the watch band can only be accessed from underneath. But I'm really only guessing.

Hi, Avangi, thanks for your help.

Okay, I do not think I quite understand it. Could you tell me, why ? I mean, why does it mean "the release on the watch ban can only be accessed from underneath." ? Thank you.

Hi nidea,
Google "butterfly clasp" and you'll see picture of this type of clasp.

To open this type of clasp would require such deliberate movements that the person you are stealing the watch from would surely notice.

Hi. I based my opinion on (among other things) your quote, "hidden deployment."

A clasp is a fastener, right? - like a safety pin. Do you know how to unclasp (release) a safety pin?
If you had never seen one before, you'd have to study it for
