But you do survive it

Hi

One guy told another woman (Lisa) about how he lost his daughter. She was killed. After that she grabbed his hand and said that she was very sorry.

He replied: But you do survive it, Lisa. You never get over it, but you can keep on living.

Does it mean something like: It's possible to survive it and go on. One can survive it/deal with it?

Hi Clive.

Actually Lisa also lost her son, so maybe he's saying: You will survive it, Lisa. You will never get over it, but you can keep on living.

What do you think?
