It was MrsGrieve who enlightened her. Kindly, garrulous, a little demanding, she could become in time a nuisance as a neighbour, Miss Mayfield realized; but there would be no time.
Does the phrase "but there would be no time" mean something like "there was no time to lose"?
Thanks

Hi, Without any context, it just seems to me to have a simple meaning. ie There would be no time for Grieve to become a nuisance. Clive
