I have a little bit confusion with the sentence for `not.....but rather'.
I have given the context below for better understanding:
``Aurangzeb, the sixth Mughal Emperor (r. 1658-1707) in India, generally ordered temples demolished in the aftermath of political rebellions or to forestall future uprisings. Highlighting this causality does not serve to vindicate Aurangzeb or justify his actions but rather to explain why he targeted select temples while leaving most untouched.''
But then I have tried to understand myself by rephrasing the sentence. Yet I'm not sure of it:
`Highlighting this causality does not serve to vindicate Aurangzeb or justify his actions, rather serves to explain why he targeted select temples while leaving most untouched.'
Is my paraphrasing right?
