But now, I'm remembering...

Dear Tutors,Emotion: smile

In my English grammar book it says the verb “remember” is a nonprogressive verb. Then why should I say “But now, I'm remembering that when I was at school, the teachers wanted us to use the British English” instead of saying “But now, I remember that when I was at school, the teachers wanted us to use the British English?”

Thanks in advance,

Both OK. Most English stative verbs are unusual in the continuous form, but do appear so in certain circumstances. Here, in I'm remembering , the speaker is letting us know that this activity is actually taking place in his mind at the time of utterance.
