Grammar

But it only will be if you let it be

I know that writing at the college level can seem a bit intimidating, but it only will be if you let it be. The one thing that will always help you become a better writer in all of your classes is having a strong clear thesis statement.
Does "it" acting as a pronoun, referring back to " writing at the college level" ?
Please explain to me the grammar in terms of parts of speech of "let it be".
Thanks
