Busy

Tom sat on the couch reading a book, while June was busy assembling a cabinet.

What does busy mean here? Does it mean she's doing it in a hurried way and is stressful about it? Or does it just mean that she's engaged doing it?

Could I replace busy with occupied or preoccupied and it would mean the same?
