Busted the hideouts

Srinagar, Feb 1 (PTI) Security forces busted three militant hideouts in Kupwara district of North Kashmir and seized a huge cache of explosives, including 11 kg RDX, a police spokesman said today. On a specific information about dumping of huge cache of arms and ammunition in the forest area by militants, Police and Rashtriya Rifles launched a joint operation and busted the hideouts in the forest area of Bawan Yamrad in Handwara, 80 kms from here, yesterday, the spokesman said.
Could you please explain to me the emboldened parts?

I know hideout means a place where militants hide and "bust" means "arrest" so I wonder how it could mean "police arrested the place".

"busted" can mean "arrested", but I don't think it does here. I think it just means they stormed and destroyed the hideouts.

bust doesn't have to mean arrest. It's raid, not arrest.
