Busted open and the negative pressure...

Hi

Are the underlined natural phrases?

(A passenger of a plane that suffered an engine failure tells the details...)

One of the window busted open and the negative pressure nearly pulled out the woman sitting there.

Thanks,

Tom

To me, "busted open" may be natural but it is very informal/low register. You would not see it in a newspaper article, or hear it from a news announcer, unless it was quoting someone directly ("broke open' or "burst open" would be more neutral in register). Also, it should be "one of the windows. . . "
