Business English

Hi my MBA classes will start within a couple of months, before that I want to brush up my english;it ain't really a brush up though,am building it from the ground up.

Currently am working on my vocabulary, and don't have a roadmap of "what to do next";probably grammar. But basically am learning words the "prefix suffix and root" way.Am memorizing the keys so that I can easily recognize words. The problem is the book that am currently reading has only 259 keys,is that enough?I don't think so,every now and then I encounter word roots or sufffixes or prefixes which aren't included in the book(INSTANT VOCABULARY By IDA EHRLICH);is there any other good book you can suggest?

There is a certain amount of words that a sophisticated person should know,I neither know the numbers nor the book name, but one is "Word Guide by Norman Lewis"but contains 120,000 words which I can't do or may be I can if you guys can help. Please suggest me a good book or books which contain words required for a Business edu. pursuant .

Also, there is a exhaustive list of books on topics like phonetics, grammar, punctuation, preposition, word power, one word substitution, yada yada yada...,am utterly confused which one to pick up next.I certainly don't have a roadmap to proper english, looking forward for help from you guys.

Regards
Andee

Ameet148 Hi my MBA classes will start within a couple of months If I were in your shoes, I would find out what textbooks your classes will use, and order them now. When they arrive, skim them for new vocabulary words, and make a personalized list to study. That will be a specifically targeted preparation for classes rather than a diluted shotgun approach.
