Hello,
I’ve recently become a member of an international department and my first task was to translate an e-mail response to a business partner. I sent him this:
Dear Mr.XY,
Based on information from Mr. ABC we‘d like to ask you to give us your address for sending the CD.
Best Regards
My boss responded to me that the sentence was absolutely incorrect and suggested this sentence:
.......... we’d like to ask you to send us your address for the actual collection CD sending.“
He specifically didn’t like the phrase “give an address” (which I used deliberately to not have a word “send” twice in such short sentence). He also tried to convince me that there’s no capital letter after “Dear Mr.“.
So where’s the truth?
