Buses Excepted

Hi Everyone,

We have bus lanes in Australia that read - Buses Excepted.

I have given this some thought, and am wondering if this is a mistake.

Buses Accepted - makes more sense.

What does 'Buses Excepted' actually mean?

Thanks,

CC

I expect this is added on to a sign which otherwise means NO TRAFFIC. You can't use 'Accepted'.
