Bus Fees vs Bus Fares

Hi

In Education Institutions in India which provide bus services, there's a fee associated with the service, which has to be paid either annually or semi-annually. This fee would be a standard amount collected based on the distance of the students' houses with respect to the school. So if the students live within a 10km radius, they may have to pay Rs.750/; beyond 10km and within 15km may be Rs.1000/ and so on.

We usually refer to this fee as "bus fees", but now I'm wondering whether it can also be referred to as "bus fares".

Please help.

Thank you.
