Burn away from the food

Hi

I've found our vacuum sealer allows me to get more food into our freezer and does a better job at keeping freezer burn away from the food, prolonging its shelf life.

--- I don't understand the part "keeping freezer burn away from the food"? What does it mean?

It's not great English - I would say it 'does a better job of preventing your food from getting freezer burn'. Freezer burn is what you get when you leave food in the freezer for a long time or without protection - the white area on frozen food that makes it inedible. The product is therefore stopping your frozen food from getting ruined by freezer burn.
