Bunch up

Hi

Runners can hold Spenco Second Skin with paper tape or silk tape (which lasts better for long races, but can bunch up a bit more in your running shoes).

I'm not sure what the author means by "bunch up"? I checked what it means in a dictionary, but I'm still not sure what the author wanted to say. Maybe it curls up or rolls up in a shoe?

Yes, that's the idea. Instead of staying flat in your shoe, it gradually becomes an uncomfortable wad that starts to hurt your foot. Clive
