Bulk sausage

Hi!

I am trying to understand what does "Bulk pork sausage" exactly mean. When searching on internet I've seen that as a bulk sausage has been discribed simple minced meat. In my imagination sausage should be a longish meat product in some kind of casing.
Is "bulk pork sausage" raw or can it be also treated with heat.
Please help!

I'm not entirely sure. Sausage meat outside of its casing could be sold in bulk, the way we buy ground beef. It could also mean an awful lot of port sausages.

After a little more search on the Internet I came accross following definition for bulk sausage: "Bulk sausage is flavored ground meat, usually pork, that is cooked like ground beef, or formed into patties".
So I'll stick to this

I'm certain it just means sausage without a casing. For many recipes, sausage must be first removed from its casing before it is browned and crumbled; the butcher is simply saving the cook (and himself) a step by not putting it into casings in the first place.

That's what it meant when my mom used to buy it!

I think this refers to sausage not in casing.  It would be the Jimmy Dean type of sausage that you buy in a package, the packaging itself almost looks like a big, fat sausage.  When you unwrap it, you can either slice it to cook, or crumble it up to cook.

It is a paste like sticky mass of well ground beef and packed into 400gm plastic tube.
It 'has' to be cooked just like ground meat.
In this pic you can see the difference between the ground beef and the bulk sausage meat. http://ringoffriendship.com
