Building my house

Experts,

When someone says that "I'm building my house.", does it mean "one is having a house built for him now" or does it mean "one is building his house by himself" ?

And if want to say that you're having a new house built now for you by a construction firm, is it okay to say "I'm building a house now."?

Please help me with this, thank you.

The meaning is ambiguous, but the use is common. Acquaintances will know whether you are a big-time carpenter or not.
