buck teeth

Hi!

Could you please tell me which of the sentence is more natural or what is the natural way of saying the following sentence?

Today I hit (or stroke?)my buck teeth with my fist. I'm a sap.

Today my fist hit (or stroke?) my buck teeth by accident. I'm a sap.

Top answer

'hit' or 'struck' are both fine. Both alternatives are fine. But I'd not say "I'm a sap".

  • 'hit' or 'struck' are both fine.
  • Both alternatives are fine.
  • But I'd not say "I'm a sap".
  • Maybe "I'm such an idiot" or some other expression.
  • It's probably preferable just to say 'teeth' rather than 'buck teeth' as 'buck' is immaterial to the situation if they are unusual (in which case they should best have been introduced elsewhere).

If you hit your teeth with your fist, you punched yourself in the teeth.

BAYRAM ERDEMwhat is the natural way of saying
I accidentally punched myself in the teeth today. What an idiot!

("sap" was already going out of fashion in my grandparents' time. I haven't heard that word in many, many years.)
