What's the meaning of "brute strength" here?

?The only law now was the law of the jungle. It would be the brute strength of a Gorilla versus the cunning mind of a Hawk.

Hi To have 'brute strength' is to have the physical strength of a large animal, like a gorilla or bear or rhinoceros The sentence compares this with a hawk. The strength of the hawk is not because it is big and has great physical strength. It's a clever animal and it survives well, but it does not have 'brute strength' Hope this helps Dave
