Broken/shattered window

Two police officers run into the office and see the broken/shattered/* window. They move to the window, or what's left of it, and look down at the street.

Is this OK?

If the window is a floor to ceiling window which has a big hole in it because someone has jumped through it, would you say it's broken or shattered or something third?

Top answer

anonymous would you say it's broken or shattered or something third else? I would probably choose 'shattered' as 'broken' is less severe and is more likely to be associated with a small hole and cracks in a window.
